One of the best ways to get information about any travel destination is to explore it online before even heading there. Santander visitors will find that the website for the local tourist information office, online at www.ayto-santander.es, is helpful but only for travelers who speak the native Spanish language, as there is not a translate-to-English option on the website. [Please note, this link is actually to the Santander council website - there is very little of value on it to tourists.] Travelers seeking to explore the area online will find that the travel guides are far more helpful than the official websites for the city.
Despite this, the physical office of the tourist information center located in Santander is a useful location for visitors seeking to obtain all sorts of information from hotel accommodation information to discounted tickets on tours and attractions. The office has convenient hours to make it especially useful for travelers. During the peak busy season (in July and August) the tourist information office is open Monday through Saturday from nine in the morning until nine at night. During the rest of the year, the office is open weekdays from nine thirty in the morning until seven at night although it closes from one in the afternoon until four in the afternoon. It is also open on Saturday during that time of year but only from nine in the morning until one in the afternoon.
During the summer you can rent a bike from the tourist office, with several drop off points to make it easy.
